Melancolia (Resolution #4) score

Instrumentation:

MELANCOLIA has its own home on the internet. This page is a home for the printed score. Note that this score was made after-the-fact as a document of the composition.

I have subtitled Melancolia “Resolution #4” because its methods of creation closely resemble my methods for Resolutions 1-3. The sonic landscape has much to do with my immediate surroundings. In my 12 years of living in New York City I had intended to make my Resolution #4 about my surroundings there. I made many field recordings but due to various other projects and life exigencies (procrastination?) I never got around to the electronic composition part of the process. Melancolia actually employs some of those field recordings, and adds to them additional field recordings I would have made for any “Resolution #4.” It is therefore natural that I view Melancolia as Resolution #4. This is nominally important, as my next “Resolution” will now be numbered 5.
